President Lawas Leads IECEP’S Celebration of International Women’s Month 2021

“By showing no constraints from the stereotypes of career and success, we should urge and inspire not just the women in general but every individual in this society to enliven the generally accepted ideals and close the gender gap in the field of engineering.”
These were the inspiring words as quoted directly from the current IECEP, Inc. National President, Dr. Mishell D. Lawas, as she led the celebration for the International Women’s Month last March 2021.

President Lawas was invited as a speaker on various Women’s Month-related events to represent IECEP, Inc. It started on The Philippine Technological Council (PTC) Women Engineers Network and Pascual Consumer Healthcare Corporation’s event with the theme, “Women in Engineering: Achieving an Equal Future in a COVID-19 World” last March 6, 2021. Her topic centered on how Women Electronics Engineers make a difference in today’s pandemic era.

It was followed by another speaking engagement at her mother’s chapter, IECEP SOCCSKSARGEN Chapter, with the topic, “Women Leaders in Engineering: Achieving an Equal Future in the Time of Pandemic” last March 20, 2021.

Her engagements highlighting her role as our ECE Mother culminated in her participation as a keynote speaker for the 1st PSME Virtual Fire Protection Conference where she emphasized the importance of an ecosystem of stakeholders when it comes to fire safety and life preservation in the context of fire prevention in the country. It was held last March 27, 2021.

It was indeed a tremendous show of leadership, class, and substance from the most empowered woman Electronics Engineer to date.
